Biography

A second generation orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Hamming is the son of Dr. Edward Hamming, a retired IBJI physician. Seeing the satisfaction his father took from helping people and the gratitude and respect patients felt for him inspired him Dr. Hamming to follow in his father’s footsteps. Dr. Hamming offers arthroscopy or other minimally invasive procedures, which decrease patient discomfort and speed recovery times. He customizes care to each patient individually to address any unique concerns or issues the patient may have. His goal is to eliminate patients’ pain and restore their function. These activities give him an added appreciation of the importance of healthy joints and help fuel his determination to to improve his patients’ conditions.

In providing care, I look at the patient as a whole, treating the person, not merely the orthopedic problem. I take the time to thoroughly explain each patient’s condition and various treatment options so that patients can participate in decisions about their care."

"I have seen Dr. David Hamming for the last year for a rotator cuff tear. I was released from care yesterday! After each visit, I've made sure to let him know how much I appreciate his care. I've never had a doctor give care at his level, that I thought you should know what a gem he is. He takes the time necessary to make you feel like you are his only patient, never rushed. He listens intently and repeats what you say so he can have full understanding of your condition. He offers suggestions and discusses each one with you. He answers all your questions without being hurried. You never feel uncomfortable asking them. He saw me/e-mailed him at some of my most difficult times and he was always positive and reassuring that although recovery would take time, it would all be fine, to take one day at a time. He is such a compassionate, positive and caring person. I would never want any other doctor. I've found the guy who is going to be there for me whatever the future might hold.
You are blessed to have him on staff." - Anita P.
